Hi to all!

And i want to to expose my problem and ask for you help.

My story, i have 5 seagate ST31000528AS. one of them stop working after a power failure, the HDD was reconized on bios but can not format or use it, then i buy the usb adapter so i can get into the console and i did as the post:
viewtopic.php?t=18907&start=40

start your drive by shorting read channels

F3 T>/2

F3 2>Z

Spin Down Complete
Elapsed Time 6.035 secs

[Remove the shorting and give following command]

F3 2>U

HighPowerMode
ExecuteSpinRequest
Spin Up Complete
Elapsed Time 3.573 secs
F3 2>/

F3 T>m0,2,2,,,,,22
Max Wr Retries = 00, Max Rd Retries = 00, Max ECC T-Level = 16, Max Certify Rewr
ite Retries = not supported

User Partition Format Successful - Elapsed Time 0 mins 00 secs

F3 T>/1

F3 1>N1

Clear SMART is completed.
F3 1>
[disconnect the power, wait couple seconds and connect again]
Rst 0x08M
(P) SATA Reset

But when i get the message "User Partition Format Successful - Elapsed Time X mins XX secs"

All the time come with "Zone re-format was skipped."

And if i turn off the power and turn it on i get infinite loop of the message

Rst 0x20M
Servo Processor Is Reset.

Same message if i use the command U (to spin drive up) and the console commands don´t respond not even ctrl-z, so i have to turn off all and wait to recycle the power so i can use the console again.

If i connect the drive to the PC sounds same as the other drives that i have, don´t have extrange sound or any other different sound. it starts read and do all but now is not recognized on the bios ... :(

If i use the commands:

V1, V2, V4, V10 and V40 i have information back and none of them empty.

That disk have less than 400 hrs of use, the others have more than 1000 hrs and no problems, cmon!

Can be a problem of pcb?

So far a few posts i have read:

So the pcb is ok, now the problem is fixable with console commands? and if yes what command i should use?

Now the infinite loop of:

Why is that?

Thank you in advance!

The procedure above is in here:
https://forum.hddguru.com/viewtopic.php ... 7&start=40

And say "Here's the fix only for the ST31000528AS 1TB Barracuda 7200.12"
Is the same model that i have, now all research i have done till now take me to the same procedure.

Now regarding the codes: V1, V2, V4, V10 and V40, according to this list:
https://www.data-medics.com/forum/seaga ... -t901.html

Are only for scan not to modify.

So please help me to understand why is bad idea? :(

Thank you in advance

Those V commands show information. You would have needed to take that into account and it would have changed the m0,22... command you used.

This was explained in some of the links you posted, and in many others in this site and other places.

Now the problem has been made much worse. Search for "partial accessibility ".
As Spildit said, since data is not important for you, and the hdd has already started to present problems, buy another and forget this one. Fixing the problem now will be too much work to end up with a bad hard disk in the end.

Sorry for the delay but have good news, i already manage to get the hdd back online, now bios and windows detect it, but stil have a problem wheh i try to format on windows just get stuck.

And when i try to format with console "m0,8,,,,,,22" it start but at 3% just heard a click and i have the message:

Rst 0x20M
Servo Processor Is Reset.

Why this message? can anyone help me please? is firmware problem? PCB problem?

Couse it works fine with ST, i can zero fill, short and long generic pass fine, the only problem is with the short DST fail.

When i run a "scan" with HDDregenerator it just hang on the first part

And as say before when i try to format or with console "m0,8" the console get locked with the servo message and have to wait to next day so i can get into the console again.

There is a way to recycle the power faster?

Thank´s all for your kindly help.

Hi, im a new data recovery noob. :D
I have seagate barracuda 7200.12 firmware CC46. With this harddrive my bios unable to detect this harddrive. but i able connect to F3 Terminal.

there is some problem when i executing ctrl + c (spin down) command. the drive always said "SATA reset" and the terminal get stuck.
so to be able to enter F3. i quickly do ctrl+z ==> 2>Z (sleep) before it reset.

Why do you want to spin down the drive?
