Does the Preamp has a Firmware?

Hey Guys,
just a short question, may be some one can answer it. Does the preamp has some kind of (programmable) firmware in it? Or is the preamp just an analogue chip?

from what I understand, preamps are a relatively simple circuit made up of a couple of transistors, resistors and capacitors.

HDD preamps are relatively complicated circuits made up of thousands of transistors. Any resistors or capacitors would be peripheral components, and relatively few at that.
The datasheet shows that the preamp is both analogue and digital. The block diagram should give you an idea of its complexity and how it works.
The chip doesn't have any firmware per se, but it has several registers which the host can use to define its parameters and to perform particular functions.
