Either ROM is not native or pre-amp is not working as it should, etc ....
Maybe the PCB itself have problems ?
Who knows ...

The drive will read some data, then hang while the background scan is doing something, then read again, hang again... And as stated, who knows what the seller did to the drive. It can never be trusted with critical data for sure. But there is a way to disable the background scanning (aka the "WD slow fix"). Do a search on here for "slow fix" and look through the results... if Spildit doesn't post a more direct link before then
Uhhhmmm....
The drive does have 0 Pending sectors and the Slow issue is caused mainly by entries on RE-LO list that are processed by the MCU of the drive consuming a huge amout of resources ....
Doesn't look like the slow problem to me .... At least the one related to RE-LO list and bad sectors ....
