Hi:

0. [ used test hdd is working ok]
1. dock station powers the drive, indicate the bay with the led light
2. but does not shows up the drive in the OS [ windows, linux tested]
3. also notice that even i unplug usb cabel hdd heads keeps jerking like
trying to read same data, similiar to the bad sector read motion.

Does anyone know anything about this issue ?

OK:

- HDD Toshiba MK1655GSX 120gb - working ok
[ it has files and using it as a test hdd in this case]
a. connect via sata = no issues, win10 can see the files, all ok
b. connect via usb2.0 'cavalry' hdd dock station = no issues, win10 can see the files, all ok

- on the 'sabrent' dock station:
a. looks like it working, lid proper LEDs indicating that hdd is inserted and
powers it, but
b. on the same win10 pc no hdd listed in the 'explorer' or in the 'drive manager' and
c. hdd heads keep trying to move like the doing some read, but can't finish it

- putting then 'same' hdd back into usb 2.0 cavalry dock station = OK.

So i assume the issue is with the sabrent.
Other drive[ 3.5] will try latter, but first backup data.

Can you post pictures of both dock stations ?

Also, does the 2.0 one has its own power supply, and per chance the sabrent one is usb-only ?

Both connected through they own power supply, and own usb cables.
sabrent is a USB 3.0 [ blue], no sure about 'usb-only' ?
They both accept sata hdd/ssd and then provide connection to the
computer via usb 2.0/3.0.

USB-only in the sense that they do not have a separate power supply, just get power from the computer through usb port.

Got it:

- [ both] separate 12v power supply.

And i mention the usb 2.0 dock only since i know to work fine, and
the test hdd works fine everywhere.

Strange thing, that on sabrent from the moment of powering on, it
make hdd drive head move in the repeat for no reason, like it trying
to read system information and it can't. And that heads movent
persist until i power dock station down. It's not normal.

Bought 'used', but upon testing it i never worked for me:

- It powers the drive, and platters are spinning, but
- heads keep jerking in a place

When i research the problem found out that those 'sabrent'
really killing the drives, and now distrust any hdd dock station.
Better to connect directly to sata.

If you can access the dock's bridge PCB while the drive is working, try to measure the +5V supply at the SATA connector.

Your model has a regulated external +12V supply plus a regulated internal +5V supply on the bridge PCB. IMHO, that's the best configuration. Other enclosures, such as those that are powered from 4-pin or 6-pin mini-DIN connectors, supply both +12V and +5V from external "bricks". IME these are nearly always badly regulated. Some will regulate the +5V supply and leave the +12V supply to find its own level. Others will attempt to regulate both, poorly, by sensing a weighted average of each output.

So it can be that PCB of the drive does not get enough juice from the dock ?
Is it worth trying to fix it ?

Thats up to you, but you can also consider it a learning experience for some time when something that is really worthy of fixing.

Examine the filter capacitor at the output of the +5V supply. Is it swollen or leaking?
