I was wondering if anybody can advice a good book or online resources to trouble shoot pcbs on hard drivers power issues and controller failure. Same goes for SSD's how to trouble shoot if they arrive dead. Basic trouble shooting resistors, capacitors , power etc.... Also I was wondering how to access the over provisioned area of a a hard drive. As far as I aware hard drives are over provisioned to move data from bad sectors out of it etc... I am just curious how much data could possible be on there. Tools I have at my disposal is DDI and MRT at the moment.

It is not very likely you will find freely available repair guides specifically for data recovery purposes - there are many things that can go wrong and no set diagnostic procedure for a given symptom.

Did you read any information from MRT manual and associated support? I am sure they show case samples and guides that you can follow on dummy cases to better understand how things work. For SSD related diagnostics, you really need something more advanced like the PC3000 SSD kit before you can even really get into these - a lot of cases I see relate to issues with controller which often are not replaceable but can be repaired temporarily for data recovery.

Is there something specific you are looking to learn? There are a lot of areas to cover in DR and its a lot more difficult that it used to be...

I got the nvme ssd add on from DDI and MRT is supporting sata ssd now as well. It is more about troubleshooting and understanding why to cut down on time. For example last week got a Toshiba in no spin, easy donor pcb and rom swap and off we go but the pcb didnt show any sign of damage. I would like some guidance ( paid in form of a book or resource ) how to measure pcb to see what actually failed. For SSD's I am aware of the working principle of nand flash ( I use Rusolut and had their training ) but in regards to lets say usb pen drive, ssd or hdd dead on arrival I do not know how to work on them with a mulitmeter. Willing to cover that gap and thats why I am posting. Maybe there is a book out there explaining the basics. SSD Controller I am aware if they get fucked that's pretty much it due the encryption etc...

Not necessarily. Though it is an increasing trend with the newer/new SSDs, not all SSDs are hardware encrypted. It really depends on the controller model.
