MCMT table is corrupted

Media cache is corrupted. Need to disable it in System file 93.

I think media cache is fine, but MCMT table corrupted 03_348
MCMT is just a table it is not a media cache

That's true. 348 is corrupted.

This is an excellent idea if you want to leave your client without big part of data. This goes for a whole lot of new Seagates. For advises like this, people should be banned from this forum. :D

Sure, and we'll ask your advice.

You hear "bells ringing" but I think you have the wrong melody

@Belthazor

By the way, what would be your opinion on this case (apart from asking for the expulsion of a member of this forum)?

I'm very anxious for a real professional to enlighten me.....

I would aggree with DR-Kiev, you need to recheck copies of sys file 348, check headers and footers, sync them and write back as module.

In Rosewood MC you can find up to 90gb of data. If you simply switch media cache off you loose access to them. MC can contain of course both data and file tables. If you do not believe me, please fill one rosewood disk with data, switch MC off and check if your data is working. You will find a lot of files filled with 0x00.

data-medics' advice is like somebody told you to try and do format the drive to see if it helps and is really dangerous for reasons I tried to explain.

Okay, and how would you turn off the media cache?

Re: ST2000LM007

You can turn off MC like with any Seagate, via sys 93 and then you can wave goodbye to good portion of data.

Re: ST2000LM007

July 17th, 2018, 8:45

You will not need to disable MC, you will need to modify 348 for errors and write it back.

Forgive me for insisting, it's to enlighten me. Which parameter or zone of the sys 93 whose modification would make me forget most of the data?

I admit that I may be wrong, so I like to be enlightened by professionals.

In order to be enlighten you must be respect full.
If you attack ones that tell you what to do, nobady will help you.
Now you say you might be wrong but in first post you said you do not need advice....
What is it, you need or not need?

perhaps the way of expressing oneself in central europe is not the same as in southern europe....

but where in the first post did I say I didn't need help?

I need to know how I can forget most of the data by modifying only the parameters of the sys93 file?

I also agree with @DR-Kiev and @unknown

Re: ST2000LM007

I don't think I've offended anyone on this subject (this is already becoming familiar), unlike others, but in Spain (at least me) we like to argue with other issues and a little bit/much of "retranca" (definition of the Real Spanish Academy of the term "retranca" ---> Hidden or disguised intention to say or do something).....

Rosewood still has a lot of secrets (at least for me) and as far as I know, and of course it may be wrong, the reference to MC data is only lost when initializing MC or rebuilding the translator (and perhaps when cleaning smart?) and none of them are done at the sys93 file level, unless I know

@Belthazor clearly says that if you disable MC at the sys93 level the data is lost, then my question, Central European style, is this possible?

I can assure you that, in my case (several, but not many), it is not so. Perhaps a matter of luck...?

Re: ST2000LM007

July 17th, 2018, 15:27

Nowhere did I say turning MC in 93 reinitialises the data, just that you, basically, loose access to them, until you restore MC option.

Bottom line, don't switch off MC, fix the table.

Re: ST2000LM007

@Belthazor. However, it allows itself the "luxury" (in its second post) of asking for the expulsion from the forum of a recognized member (data-medics).

Show me your knowledge in DR and I will learn from you (if you let me)
