External HDD and fixed disk issue

August 3rd, 2018, 19:12

Hi all

need some advice if possible, I have Samsung / Seagate M3 external USB 3 hard drives and these drives detect as Fixed Disks, this is an issue as I want to have BitLocker enabled on these drives, these drives are used for backup and gets taken away from the company it is at. the issue is when it is set to auto unlock on the pc it doesn't auto unlock, the reason for this I believe is that fixed disks will not auto unlock unless the OS partition is bitlocked

Is there any software that can manage the RMB on the drive that works with these drives or a software solution/reg hack that can make windows see the external disk as a removable disk, i know it is possible the other way around with software

Just to rule out Lexar BootIT and software for flash drives as they only see my 1tb drive as a 500mb drive

Thanks
Chris
