Unfortunately, typical symptoms of head/s failure.

Maybe, but it all depends of the data in the drive. If it the data is not worth some US$ 200 or 300 at least, then just get another drive

After that the motor stops, does it start to spin again after few seconds or it stay stationary?
If motor starts to spin again without re-plugging power supply, then it might be a firmware issue, this can happen often in particular 7200.11 seagate drives as ST3750330AS or ST31000333AS models.
But if you have any other seagate family or even a common 7200.11 drive as ST3500320AS model, then motor will not spin up again automatically and this means that heads are faulty.

I forgot to say, also your ST31500541AS (Barracuda LP) drive can behave by re-starting the motor if there is a firmware issue.
If motor doesn't spin alone again, then definitely it has bad heads.
