What you can do:
1- Look here in this forum, for some utilies that can work with "badblocks" , and there are some of thems that can tell you what is the size of the G-List. Including the MHDD that can show you the list of Fujitsus and IBMs and there are anothers that can show you the G-list of others like the hddspeed that can show the G-list of the Quantums.
2- After this step you can see how many defects has in the list, use the erase waits - scan the disk to see if all the defects are gonne or how many of them you was able to remap - and look the list again, compare the numbers and voila you can discover what is the list that the hd is using.
All manufacturs uses the SA to put some instructions and has some hard disks that has utiliites inside that can work with the G-List or the P-list so you will need to try some of them to learn about theyers abilities.
