Hi
I'm monitoring the SMART Values (with CrystalDiskInfo 7.6.0) of my Seagate ST1000LM048 almost every day for a few months now. Today I noticed a very low normalized "Current" value of 66 (Worst: 64, Threshold: 6, Raw Value: 000000403d34) for the Read Error Rate. About two weeks ago, the "Current" value was at 83 and a few months back, it was at 70. From the 2018.07.01, the "Current" value increased every few days from 70 to 83 on the 2018.09.04 and then suddenly dropped to 66 on the 2018.09.15, which is only 2 above the "Worst" value of 64. An overview:
2018.09.15
Current: 66 --- Worst: 64 --- Threshold: 6 --- Raw Value: 000000403d34
2018.09.02
Current: 83 --- Worst: 64 --- Threshold: 6 --- Raw Value: 00000ca23d93
2018.07.01
Current: 70 --- Worst: 64 --- Threshold: 6 --- Raw Value: 000000a32d54
Do I need to worry about a possible HDD failure? I guess every value above the Threshold of 6 is still "safe", but the direction the values have are a bit worrysome, especially the sudden drop of the "Current" value from 83 to 66 in just two weeks.
Thanks and regards
Roli
