HELP Seagate terminal error

Good day,

I have Seagate HDD Barracuda 7200 1000Gb, model ST1000DM003, but I can't see it in Windows, even if I plug it in my system loads too long. Is there any chance to get my files back? Could you please help me, what to do with that error.

It will not. Specific parameters within the service area of the disk are causing these errors and need to be properly disabled or cleared to improve this. It may be possible to do yourself over terminal window but there is always a risk of further problems and messing with SA objects without knowing specifically what you are doing can cause irreversible data loss.

Only possibility you have without proper tools is to enter via congen using 'F' command - but command will vary between models, I do not recall exact commands for your model and like I said earlier it may cause additional errors and complications.

You would be better asking someone to remotely look into this - but you have to consider that this failure you have relates to overflowing of relocated defects table which suggests there are many read errors - this can very often be a symptom of a much bigger issue such as heads degrading or failing. If this is the case, you really will need a professional to take a look at this for you.

After some time you will either see a ready state and data may be accessible, or you will see an LED error at terminal. But even in the event device comes online, it will be quite tricky to recover without recovery software and dependent on how many errors are present on the surface, you may not be able to clone it without some hardware imager.

At this point it will likely be fairly inexpensive, however the more unstable it becomes the more difficult and ultimately expensive this will be for you. If data is not worth anything, and after some time the device reaches a readiness state, you can try with some commercial image tools - but if data has any value, I would seriously consider getting it evaluated by a professional

Thank you very much for your advice, I really appreciate. What kind of recovery software? Could you tell me the name of the program? Should I make a raw disk copy and then try to recover files from the raw image? My problem that I can't even normally enter the bios or boot the system with that disk, maybe I just need to wait for more time, like 5-10 minutes?

After all errors, my disk has this in terminal:

I have tried to remove power, close terminal and reconnect again, but nothing has happened.

Create a sector-by-sector clone with ddrescue (freeware) or HDDSuperClone, then run data recovery software against the clone.

Is there any specific order to enter these commands? I just pressed CTRL+Z and then entered every command one by one.

As I said before, there is a chance you can get this online by disabling certain parameters, since you entered them already and there is no access, there are likely other issues which was always a high possibility. traditional software can be dangerous as an unstable device will not remain mounted via Windows and you will be unlikely to secure a complete recovery, and subsequent attempts to do so will simple cause the drive to degrade.

It is your choice, and if you do decide to try yourself it will be better to image as opposed to searching out and recovering individual files, but I really recommend you get this done by someone who has the right tools to do it safely.
