WD10JMVW-11AJGS3 not ready

September 24th, 2018, 18:37

Ok I have this drive that I have diagnosed it has the slow response problem. And it will show up as "not ready" on Windows, or cannot initialize in OSX. So I assume it is on "busy" mode.

The thing: I do not have fancy software such as PC3K or so. Is it possible to solve this without it? So to access modules I will need to convert the PCB to a SATA if I am correct.

Thanks in advance

EDIT:

I could use the SATA conversion and Marvel WD tool to access SA right? but then swap to USB PCB in order to decrypt? after sorting the modules I mean.

It will need a new head assembly for sure.

Possibly if you can patch some firmware parameters and get access to the disk, then it is very possible that you have problems with a head.

I have a vertical laminar flow bench, already replaced heads
The thing is that I am still learning with firmware issues, and that I cant afford a PC3000 and that makes drives me nuts

Do you have any tools to work with firmware ?.
The WDMarvell is quite economical

Indicate if you use something for firmware and it will be easier to help you.

Greetings.

Thanks for the reply.

No I haven't got any firmware tools but I did look into WDMarvell. It seems that now it supports the USB PCB Board?

Cheers

It is effectively compatible with USB.
Although I prefer to convert them to SATA, we do not avoid an additional hardware / software layer.
You can start with the demo version to do tests with any WD disk that you do not need.
