Hello Everyone. I've been searching for a head tool for the 3TB and 4TB Western Digital My Passport drives. I contacted HDD Surgery almost 2 years ago and they said they were working on it, but still nothing
.
How do you handle these cases when a reliable tool isn't available? Get creative?
Thanks.

The tool from Apextoollab works, although you have to be a bit careful as it’s a bit loose-fitting.

pcimage, thank you so so much! Really appreciate it.
One more question.....do you use PC-3000 to work on these model drives. Last I spoke to ACE, they said these drives are only partially supported. Building heads map and solving slow issue is not supported (although I've had a few of these 4TB drives that were not USB 3.0 interface work with building heads map).
Reason I ask is because I have a case now where the heads are all good, but there is heave media damage on various areas on the platters and theres no real good way to image the drive without having the option of disabling the heads to bypass these areas.
Thank you again for your help and advice, really appreciate it.

Yes, I use pc3000.
No support for head map on Spyglass as of yet.
I always convert to SATA as it provides much better control

Hi guys,
We are almost ready to announce the product for these drives. It will have all characteristics like all our products - stability, precision, durability, endurance.
This tool will also have the ramp slope for advanced head analysis:
A fresh case, the bottom image shows the effects of the ramp slope:

That is AWESOME! Do you know roughly when it'll be available? If you could send me an invoice for it once its available (
info@fivestardatarecovery.com) that would be great?
Thanks.

I've got Spyglass & Pebble Beach combs for $25 each.
These lock in place and are really nice -- they won't slide off.
