Data recovery and disk repair questions and discussions related to old-fashioned SATA, SAS, SCSI, IDE, MFM hard drives - any type of storage device that has moving parts

As much as I search the internet, I can not find any study to check how fast a magnetic layer of a hard disk corrodes in normal atmospheric conditions. (humidity between 40-60%)
Of course I mean WITHOUT the protective layer of coal.
Any ideas ?
Thank you.
