Leaving power cable in

Hi, want to know if it is "Ok" to leave the SATA power cable in my hard disk while just removing the DATA cable from my hard disk. I want to disconnect my hard disk from the motherboard but i only want to remove the data cable is that ok?

Depends of what you are doing ....

Might not be the safest thing to do as the system might be writing data on the drive when you uplug the sata cable. It would be as bad as removing power + sata.

If you are careful not to touch the components and short stuff yes, removing just the sata cable is "safe" as long as the system is not accessing the drive...

I think u got confused with my question, i am removing the DATA cable only when my PC is completely shut down. Just want to know if when i power up my PC with ONLY the power cable attached to the MB<--->Harddisk. Will it cause any issue? Data cable is un-attached.

No, that won't cause any issue. The drive will just power up and sit there waiting for a computer to initiate communication (which won't happen).
