Hi,

I've replaced my non-working WD 2,5" HDD's PCB with the new PCB i'd bought from China. (Replaced the BIOS')

I am sure that i havent made a soldering mistake but no response from the HDD :(

Is it possible that my old BIOS could be the problem?

Shall i use the new BIOS to save the hardware for a new start. (Np for my old data)

Thanks.

What was the reason for PCB swap in the first place? Does the drive spin with the original PCB/ROM? Does the drive spin with replacement PCB/ROM?

If 'Yes' to question 2 and 3 and if the donor PCB is the same as patient PCB, I'd check your soldering job...and/or make sure you're swapping the correct IC.

It had suddenly stopped working. No spinning and no sound. When i'd checked the back of the PCB it was really hot, burning...

Now, also the drive doesnt spin with the replacement PCB/ROM. :(

What I meant was to try the original drive with the replacement PCB AND ROM that the replacement PCB came with. If the drive spins, then yes the patient ROM may be bad.

Ok, I'll do the solder/desolder and try this.

Thank you.

Well, i guess this is a progress.

I've soldered my old ROM again. This time it worked  First time i had made a bad solder i guess.

But motherboard couldnt recognize it.

The disk was spinning and stopping. Making a "click" sound and it loops.

What i am a gonna supposed to do next?
