If you cut the reading channel at the start of the HDD, you will not be able to record the modules.

Good news !!!! With SeDiv i did manage to write the overlay back !!!

I did short points on PCB. Then i did write SA ROAD MAP, then i was able to write all modules back .... Now i do have other problem .... i did fuc*** the P-List !!!! :evil: :evil: :evil:

Ok, it's simple !!!!

- Short read channel or remove PCB. You should be able to write back reserved area map. Power off/on you should be able to write the rest of the modules !!!!

I did manage to figure this one out.

If you power the drive with PCB only or with shorted read channel you can only write the SA map that have the sa bad blocks. I did write a sa map that was not native and i could place bad blocks over Overlay preventing it from loading. Then i could write again the sa bad block map, write the module directory, etc .... I was not able to write P-List because i was using non-native sa bad block map ....

You can write on those drives even if you start with just PCB or shorted points. So you write sa bad block map and then you should power off/on assuming you don't have damaged overlay. From there you can write the module directory. then power off/on and it will load and you can write all the other modules ! Done !!!!


Now with all of that SA address change i did manage to fuc*** more sectors of the SA because i did write several copies of my modules with shifted region by one, over-writing important stuff on tracks like serial number, etc ...

It would be interesting now to see how the SA can be recovered in the HITACHI-ARM, I would like to continue with the thread that I opened for the ARM, but it is going to be a very complicated task.

I will do some testing with that as well !!!

Are you trying to "play" with each brand of drive one by one ?

By now you did manage to learn about WD, Fujitsu, Seagate F3 and now you are at HGST. What brands are you still missing ?

I can see that some HGST do have F copy even on ARM arch. I do have many drives with bad zones. I will sacrifice one for testing later. I will see if i can erase the firmware and write it again. My last experience with this Hitachi M24 arch costed me one drive lolllolololololol


That thing of changing regions made SeDiv write modules to the wrong place on track erasing stuff that are not enumerated by modules !!! Remember that on IBM based drives there are info on tracks that belong to firmware as well but are not mention on the module directory and can't be retrieve with module reading ...

Right now I'm missing FUJITSU, SAMSUNG, TOSHIBA, HITACHI-ARM.
My priority is HITACHI-ARM, TOSHIBA, SAMSUNG and FUJITSU in that order.

I have also observed abnormal behaviors in the HD after restoring the modules: prolonged waiting times and even not being properly recognized, although I do have access to the data.
I want to continue testing and I am going to request MRTLAB to include the option to save the tracks of the SA (At least I will try it).

Doesn't MRT have that option yet ?

I will do some more testing with my drive as well and with other ARM drives. The ones i have do have copy F ...
