WD20EZRX-00DC0B0 recover?

January 9th, 2019, 9:02

Hi all!!

Any possibility to fix this SATA 2TB WD HDD?
It sounds and spins good but device is not correctly recognized by windows.

Disk manager shows an uninitialized unknown disk of 1342117728,00 GB of capacity.
Also through CRC errors when tried to initialize from windows disk manager. Any other tool used do not detect it.

Could I fix by myself the right capacity o reflash the firmware?

Thanks a lot in advance!!

Thank you @Spildit for your quick response.

I've tried to exchange the drive controller board so I have 2 identical units but with same results. It seems board is good.
I attatch a pic of disk manager showing wrong capacity detected.

And this is how it shows from MacOS disk utility.

144 PetaBytes and won't initalize anyway.

Thanks!!

Data recovery firm?

What do you mean?

I've tried TESTDISK setting right C/H/S values and write new MBR and boot sector but it raises error. Also did not find any partition on it.

C/H/S setting was: 243201/255/63 with sector of 512bytes

Thanks a lot!

How is it detected in BIOS?

Correct capacity?

if your file system is MAC native (HFS, HFS+, etc...) and
If you keep playing with testdisk you can start saying goodbye to your directory tree.....

Teskdisk is not a bad tool, but believe me, in this case will not help you anything and can complicate data recovery (if not already done ...)

Where does the disk come from?? is it an internal disk or a "my book" enclosure?

No problem. HDD does not contain important data.

It cames from a WD myBook Studio II raid 1 enclosure. It is the A disk.

Thanks!

Here was the answer to your questions.

Now... Well, if you don't need the data, initializing and creating a new volume, you may recover the disk....

Noooo SD RAID software mark it as defective and it is wrong-recognized attached directly to SATA cable or through USB box to Win or Mac system.

System detects a 144 PetaBytes disk. ????

I'am considering a broken head or other hw issue.

Thanks!!

Well, this would be expected.

Then, throw it in the trash and if you need the data, recover from the other RAID 1 disk
