HITACHI-ARM FIRMWARE RECOVERY.

January 14th, 2019, 3:01

I'm trying to record all the SA in a HD HITACHI-ARM that has all the corrupt SA.
In theory it is possible and it seems that there is some tool that does it.
I open this thread with the intention of solving this problem in which I am interested and may be interested in someone else.
I thank in advance who can help me in this matter.

Do you have a full copy of modules ? Did you try to load modules to RAM if possible at all like copy of open modules ?

Do you have drive that you don't mind to fu*** in the name of science ?

Yes, I have everything.

Can't you write open modules ?

I wrote a version of Firmware in the SA different from the one that NVRAM has.

If I delete all the SA of an ARM HDD without F copy, is there a possibility of recovering the HDD if I have a copy of all the modules of the SA?
Does any tool on the market do this?

Did you already try this ?

What does happen when you delete all SA on a ARM based drive ?

Can't you write anything back with MRT ?

Yes, I tried it but I did not get it.
The HDD remains in BSY.
With MRTLAB I got it for the HITACHI-IBM (with some drawbacks, but with what I got, data could be recovered).
The MRT with the hitachi I have achieved that if a copy of the SA is wrong to use the good copy canceling the bad head, but I can not recover the data in the bad head.

If you have all drive modules, you need to make loader from them, download to drive loader and write back modules. pc3k should able to do it, but i am not sure.

Thanks for the advice.
I work with MRTLAB and it does not take it.
I'll keep looking, in theory it should be done.

If you do the "loader" (create it by hand) you should be able to load it to the drive with download microcode standard ATA command ...

Trick would be to create the loader ....

I do not know how the charger is created by hand?
Is there any information about it?

It would be cool to know how to create manually the LDR from saved mods, also how to upload it into the drive.
MRT doesn't have such option!
In the past, when i was playing with 2.5" hitachi arm drive, i killed SA by doing a similar thing as mhp666 did and i remember that i was not able to restore it, i searched for some infos on how to bring it again alive but i wasn't able to find anything.

Maybe an hotswap would work?
I don't know if it would work because i left the drive and trashed somewhere.
But i will be happy to restart playing again with it if somebody knows how to create ldr and explains how to upload it into the drive.

You should be able to upload the loader with standard ATA download microcode command. Check SeDiv for HITACHI, there are 2 options there on the top menu to upload "loader" to the drive. Problem is how to create the loader.

Hot swap will not work on those. NVRam of donor is not the same as the one on patient and firmware start is defined on NVRam so ... if this were to work you would be writting firmware on the wrong place ...

I tried to do a hot swap, but it did not work and I think that on a HDD like HITACHI, you do not have to try.
I have downloaded the trial version of SEDIV, but when I run it, it is not even shown on the screen. Does it work for Windows 7?
I have not had time to get back to the subject of HITACHI, when I find a space I'll put it back.

Sediv doesn't work with the 64-bit system, neither in AHCI mode.
Win 7 is fine if it is 32 bit and in if is set in IDE mode.

I don't see why you have difficulties here. PC3k can do loaders. Just ask somebody to create loader from drive with same firmware like your drive has. Upload loader to drive and write original modules back.

Are you sure that pc3000 is able to build loader for arm hitachi?
I've found the hitachi drive which i ruined time ago with mrt, i would like to upload ldr in sediv and see if i can make it work again.
Can you try to build the loader for this drive, please?
I'm curious to see if ldr will work :)

Here i upload the firmware backup maid with mrt:

It would be very cool to have LOADER from PC-3000 so we could see how PC-3000 builds the loader ....
