Dear HDDGURU community,

i am trying to recover certain files from a "RAW state" "Not accessible - wrong parameter" Hitachi HTS545050b9A300 2.5 Inch 500GB HDD SATA drive.

I am not a pro, but experienced.

The HDD is plugged into my Windows 10 PC, via SATA. R-Studio gives the best results on scanning old or lost partitions file system on that drive. Corrupt JPEG or JPG files, could be easily be fixed with jpegrepair..

My question... which tool is better to search scan for former partitions? How can fix a corrupt MFT table. I somehow think it would result in better scans if I fix the "RAW state" first. I can be wrong, please correct me.

If I havent given enough details, for you people to help me, please bomb me with questions.

I thank your for your time

kind regards
kaemen

+1 check SMART status of the drive with CrystalDiskInfo
Tell the whole story of that drive and what happened, will give the best hint on whats best in you case.
Your idea of fix the "RAW state" is very wrong. Never write anything to a drive that contains "lost data"

Just recover all the data that you can to ANOTHER DRIVE !!! You shouldn't recover the data to the SAME drive as it will over-write the already deleted data making it un-recoverable. You shouldn't be fixing the partition as well.

For software like R-STUDIO it doesn't matter if you fix the partition or not, it will not improve results at all.

Just scan for file alocation table and if you are after certain file types you can do a raw recovery be file signature as well ....

Also you can try DMDE.

Good luck.

Thanks mate. Dont worry I am always recovering to other drives, since every read/write decreases the chances of recovering the lost data. DMDE havent tried it yet, Ill give it a try
