Quick answer :

1 - NO !!!

2 - NO !!!!

If you do need the data send the drive to a REPUTABLE data recovery firm right now and stop messing with it ...

It should be EASY at this point. Might not need head swap and platter might not be damaged.

Keep on playing with it and you will kill it for good.

Also sending RANDOM terminal commands will not help ... You are lucky that terminal is locked ...

You can't fix this drive by clearing defect lists and S.M.A.R.T. ... it will only make matter worse.

If you clear the media cache you will loose the data in there ...

It might be possible to CLONE the drive even more by disabling flags on sysfile 93 but it require PROPER tools and experience.

This one is not DO-IT-YOURSELF, sorry ...

And don't even think in sending to a regular computer repair shop ... if you do not mess it up they will mess it up for you ... and keep away from people advertizing data recovery services if they are not confirmed to be reputable and have proper tools like PC-3000 and full clean room (hepa 100).

Good luck.

No problem ! Just make sure that your REPUTABLE pro will not do even worse to the drive ....
