Hi!

Before trashing this drive (just a couple of days after the warranty expired), I just wanted to double-check if it is done beyond home-repair.

heads and platters are very sensitive parts. can't be opened in normal environment. you shouldn't have opened the platter side.
if you have any important data you should contact proffesional DR. but not sure about your data.

if it has no very important data, forget it.

many thanks for your input!

I tried a couple of things before opening the disk and this was a last resort action, just to see if the heads are stuck and can be somehow moved to work again. I do have the important data backed up somewhere else, just wanted to give it a try to get the other stuff back as well..
