Hi
I have a 500 GB seagate Pipeline HD .2 drive (ST3500312CS) drive that is not recognized in BIOS nor Windows.
I'd like to fix it so that I can store non-critical scratch data in it.
Problem details:
1. It does not show up on BIOS and Windows. (Not the 0MB problem, this one does not show up at all)
2. When I connect it to using serial console it is stuck in
Code:
Rst 0x08M
line. Ctrl-Z
does not give a command prompt.
3. When I put a paper over either motor pins or head pins, I
can get a F3 T> prompt after Ctrl-Z, and the terminal works OK.
Code:
Rst 0x08M
ASCII Diag mode
F3 T>
My goal:
Data is not important. Drive was empty anyway. I want to repair and use it for storing non-critical files so that a 500GB capacity does not go to waste
I've read about some Seagate firmware fixes (using m0 command or whatever), but I did not want to blindly apply it and break the drive irrepairably, so that's why I'm asking here first.
I'd like to fix it in a proper way. I heard the m0 command was not permanent and the error will repeat in the future.
I won't store important data on it but still I'd like it to not fall into the same error condition every few months so I'm looking if there are ways to fix it in a more proper manner.
I'm attaching the drive images below
Thanks.
