Hi
Half of its LBAs are readable, most of them with full speed, the other half is readable but very slow and shows the same content for all its sectors.
Is it possible that one head is damaged even though it returns 'something' (the same content - cache ?) and not returning ERR ?

At least 25~30 % of data has gone.

If you have same content of this seagate series in one head, most of time you should swap the heads.

Do you have good data from the other parts of the drive?
If this area is contiguous to the end of the drive, it may have been previously wiped with the same code in each sector.

That doesn't mean the drive was not previously wiped.

In every 'bad area':
1. the same content
2. very slow access.
Can't imagine anyone writing only to slow sectors.

If it is slow access in that area then you are probably right you have other issues.
All I was saying was that at some point in the past the drive may have been wiped ie before the issues stated.
Just wanted to rule out a red herring.
