Hi all,

I have a problem with my WD Red White Labelled (WD80EMAZ).

I plugged in the Hard Disk to a Running PC and then the Disk did not start up anymore.
It is a White Labelled so there is something with the 3,3v pin.

I tried to desolder some Stuff on the Sata Power Connector but it did not work out. So I ordered a second HDD. It is the same HDD.
I want to swap the BIOS now that the Index is not gone.

The problem is that I and some other people do not know for sure what the BIOS is on this Model.

You can see on the Screenshot the PCB.

I hope someone can say what the BIOS is that I can try out to swap it.

If you have some other Idea how spin up the disk again i open.

The "BIOS" chip is the one marked "25LH16".

GD25LH16WIG, GigaDevice, 16Mbit, 1.8V, SPI flash memory, QFN-8:

Datasheet database for HDDs and SSDs:

Does the second HDD spin up from the same SATA power cable? Have you measured the voltages at the SATA power cable?

SATA power pin #3 is a Power Disable pin. If it is wired to 3.3V, then the drive will remain powered off.

BTW, your drive is a rebadged HGST helium model.
