it seem that one of the chips on the controller board has burnt out. not quite sure how to fix this. i was thinking that maybe a board swap might work but im not totally sure. any help i this matter would be greatly appreciated. thank you. pictures below.

i figured but i didnt want to post 2 hard drives in on post that is why i seperated them. thank you very much for the reply

Very likely he was playing with power supply cables or has changed the power supply without using the included cables or it was just faulty.
ATX power supplys cables not have always same configuration!
When we see those burning marks on WD drives on that specific side of smooth chip often is also a sign of burned preamp.

I fear that the preamp may have been damaged.
Check the TVS diodes.

On this model, preamp damage is very likely.

it's odd i cannot find that post no matter how i search for it. I just have the memories about writing it in my old premises, where i was between 2008-2011...
pretty strange.
