Hi,

I have an HP SAS EG0300FBLSE hard drive with firmware HPD5. I would like to upgrade this to the HPD8 version. This is connected to an LSI SAS RAID controller in IT mode. There is also a SATA raid controller in the system. When I start the HP Updater on Linux I get a duplicate device error message. Is there a way to flash the S6CMPSD8.rel.fw using another tool?
Thanks a lot

The problem could be solved with an HP SAS controller. Apparently the firmware for the HP drives is encrypted. These are only decrypted and installed when an HP SAS controller is found in the system. You have to know :-)

Use this with sg_write_buffer. This file is inside this https://support.hpe.com/hpsc/swd/public ... 9ec99ddd06

I tried that. however, the firmware at hp is apparently encrypted. only hp's own software worked on an hp controller.

From CP025762.scexe extract file EG0300FBLSE8.frm, and remove with hex editor first 440h bytes, you will get standard loader file for seagate without encription
