ST1000DM003 not showing in BIOS have serial access.

May 22nd, 2020, 9:45

I have a ST1000DM003 That was running very slowly until it stopped. At that time it was detected by BIOS.
I have replaced the PCB and swapped the EPROM, CMOS, Flash chip.
The drive The drive then ran again for a very short time fetching data. It stopped again. and was no longer detected by bios.
I was told it may be heads. It has a single platter I ordered a head swapping tool and donor drive and swapped heads.

The drive was now detected by bios but HDDSuperclone froze when selecting the drive.

I purchased a TTL serial adapter and hyperterm.

On power up I get
Spin Up
SpinOK
TCC:001B

(P) SATA RESET.

Any suggestions?

Thanks Tom

it must be some kind of firmware corruption problem. I don't think changing pcb and all that was needed. might be a bad sectors causing problems.
