I am working on Hitachi HDS721032CLA362 320GB Desktop SATA hard disk. It gives detection but giving error while accessing sectors.
I can read modules using Head 1 & cant read in Head 0. Since modules and defect list cant be read I think Translator also is not built and hence no sector access.
Actually I can read all using Head 1 but the task is to assign and initialize disk using Head 1 , I have tried to edit NVRAM and change head map from 11 00 to 11 11
but then disk loses detection.(I think firmware must be initialized from Head 0 only.
I have tried to Initilize translator from RAM but getting error " Address of translator activation flag not found" Acelab has made improvement in utility to address this issue ,but I UDMA might not be supporting it ( My version is 6.4.19 )
Now is it possible to initilize disk using Head 1 , if not reallocate SA and write modules using Head 0
Here I dont know whether Head 0 is working or not as I am getting read errors for head 0 but sometimes it reads normally as well.
I have tried HDD initilization using stored resources (Loader) , utility starts this process but still no sector access.
how to solve this case.

Well,
You Should Update It ,As Far As Access Is Concerned If You Swap Heads The DR Process Should Improve

Thanks
But As per client budget it has to fitted in firmware based recovery only.

Well,
i hear this daily from clients ,Tell him firmly its impossible and you have the tool to do it but its not happening ,Approx 75% times they will approve physical recovery ,This is constant BS i hear from clients

Is it possible to force hard disk to relocate and read SA modules from head 1 ? I think in some models Head 0 is needed to initilize disk.

Well,
SA Is Complete In Head 0 and 1 ,You Are Wrong ,Sometimes It Does Not Give Sector Access When Head 1 Is The Boot Head But Then You Can Init Translator In RAM ,In His Case He is On a Very Old And Outdated Version .

Hi CCC
thanks. If I change headmap in NV ram to 01 01 then disk loses detection and gives error I think reading modules from Head 0 is a must.

100 % Data recovered , one of friend helped , a simple trick to generate translator worked.
Amarbir - Head transpalnt was not necessary ,since issue was not with the heads but firmware (translator) even old DE version was not problem

Well,
Did you see ccc's reply your headmap was wrong ,its 00,01,whatever in some hitachi drives and reverse in some like 01,00,Whatever .His observation was correct ,i did not see those images ,If a person cannot boot from 00 or 01 head transplant is the only way to complete recovery and this is my observation ,I do not know if someone is making silly mistakes like 11,11 headmap which is totally wrong ,You have your data and you asked for support ,Now be a good boy and tell the public how its solved this is how you return back to this community .

PS : Good Job

Thanks Amarbir
Original issue was with mainly translator modules (though modules were available under head 1 hard disk initialization needs them under head 0)
Creating virtual translator using PSHT & RDMY modules read by Head 1 in active utility worked , incidently this worked under my old DE version as well.
