Hello,

I have an internal desktop HGST Deskstar 4TB HDN726040ALE614 from 2017 which doesn't spin up or power on and is not detected at all by the BIOS. The drive failed when I moved my PC to a new location. After the move, my PC would shut off within 2 minutes of powering on or not power on at all. I checked the power connections inside the PC, reseated them, and the PC began working normally. The only issue was the HGST drive wasn't working.

After some investigation with my multimeter I noted the TVS diodes were not shorted and appeared to be working correctly. But the fuse closer to the power connector is open circuit, while the other one is conducting as expected.

What would be the correct fuse to replace the damaged fuse with?
Is there any point considering a professional fix that would preserve warranty which is either expired or about to expire (3 years)?
If I do just bridge the damaged fuse, are there any precautions to take to avoid further damage during recovery?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Hi Wolv, thank you for your insight.

I once, place a slim wire on the fuse of my fujitsu as senior here suggested.

And it works. Many thanks.
