Hi guys, greetings. I have slim hitachi 2.5" 7mm 1 tb hdd with possibly burnt pcb, can help me identify which part that I need to remove/replace?
detailed model is: HTS541010A7E630

Background story:
I think I burnt my drive because my power supply give too much voltage. This is because I connect it to my modular psu with different cable vendor, my mistake.
the weird thing is smoke came out from sata data cable, yeah sata data cable not the power one. overall the physical condition of connector sata power and data doesn't show any sign of damage/burnt.
But the hard drive now is not spining even when I connect it to external hdd case.

Now I if I recall hdd comes with some protection that need to be removed for the hdd to work again.
I was thinking maybe I could remove that part to recover my data and possibly replace it if I can find the part somewhere.

Check the fuse and TVS diode.

hi, sorry for late update, I was waiting for my multimeter to arrived.
As I checked, the diode turns out to be okay. But the fuse seems to be broken.

Can I just make this hdd working again by removing the fuse?

Perhaps you should find a professional repair service.

If the data is not critical, you might try bridging the fuse, but check the circuit side of the fuse to gnd against being shorted or low resistance first.

Well, I am trying to see if I can repair it myself. The data is not that important though, that's why I think not worth to seek for professional repair service.
If I can revive the drive then I will just use it as backup drive if not, then i will just leave it.

At first I thought I can just repair this drive by either removing the diode or putting some wire on the fuse ends.

The reason I suggested that the job may be beyond your capabilities is that you don't understand the function of a fuse. What do you think would happen to the power for your house or car if you were to remove the fuses in the fuse box?
