... and Franc, pls never tell anyone who can recover sg roms.. :)
btw, i guess there are a couple of guys here who would have been helpful in reading rom with broken pin without charging an arm and a leg including myself, if it is feasible.

Let's see how this seagate stuff turns out ...

Seagate's recovery attempt was unsuccessful, but something doesn't look right:

Quote:
I just got my drive back from Seagate. As you said, they could not recovery any files/repair the drive.
BUT: they did try to etch the chip to solder on the ground pin.

I don't suggest any pros bother joining Toms Hardware Forums...they'll likely ban you when they find out that you actually know what you are talking about and don't work for one of their sponsors.

You can contribute and earn the respect/tolerance of the moderators, or you can just secretly contact the OP via PM. I think you'll find that HDD Guru is the exception to the rule in that it is one of the few forums which allow people to freely promote their own businesses.

i didn't plan registering there for having just one more registration. On the other hand it is odd you are so reluctant helping somebody out with info when you clearly know who to refer the guy to. Just because i do it for getting paid. What a sinful passion...

I help people every day without any form of compensation. If you're too lazy to do your own legwork, then that's you're problem, not mine. I've shown you where the fish are, now do your own fishing.

it's not about fishing, man. You know how to help him but you won't.
I'm just wondering what kind of planet you are living on. You probably never did anything for compensation, you got fed by your mother all your life or what?
You do help for free, i do that too when it is possible. In this case the helpful attitude would be to refer the guy where his problem can be solved or at least have a chance to get it solved.
It may be unbelieveable but some people are happy to have their data recovered for a fee. It might be better getting it back for a fee than loosing it completely.
Never mind, it's your decision, i won't go there.

The caviar is on the table. Now lift the spoon to your mouth, I'm not your nanny.
