Hello, does anyone know: I have what i think is an SCSI cable, it looks like 25 pin parallel connector on one side and a 50 pin on the other side. Problem is it could also be a parallel printer cable correct? if it's not labelled how can i know if it's truly an scsi cable.

I fear that if i connect a parallel device to my legacy synthesizer scsi port it will fry the synth for sure (has happened) . but if the cables look exactly the same is there any difference between a parallel cable and an scsi cable? can i connect two scsi devices with what looks like an scsi cable? are both scsi and parallel straight through (pin to pin) with no crossovers inside? if I can't figure this out i have to throw this cable out and buy a "for sure" scsi cable for 50 bucks so if someone is an expert would love to know! thank you very much!

Not a legacy scsi expert either, but a photo would help here.
The cables i saw were either 50, 68 or 80 pins on both ends, and at mid-positions of the cable. These were internal scsi cables, but there are also external ones.
To my surprise I found this one:
