Hello !

I am looking for the firmware for the same drive aka 4K020H2 - 40gig.

my email: pki@wp.pl

All tries of read data are answered by error and abort, the drive reports about 20gig (40151830 LBA), but should be twice as much !!

Do i need a PC-3000 to burn the firmware, or is it possible with a simply PC ?

Greetings from Poland !

Hi,

You probably have a failing head 1.
There is nothing left but to change the heads. But this is very tough with 40G D540X. Not the changing itself that is tough , but to find an apropriate head. I never succeded with 2 headed D540X. I changed the heads, but the drive would not initialize. With 1 headed (20G) models it run pretty smoothly several times. The problem must be somewhere with alignment.

regards,
pepe
