Hi I have old seagate HDD 500GB and just for knolage want to change serial number.

So to now I find a chip on board where I download firmware (eeprom) edyting by hex (bin file) found in two places serial number then just in bouth places i change letter 3 to 1, then reload rom by programer, all fine to this way, but when i connect to pc to try to everything is fine HDD is not recognised by system. Now is the question is serial number only in chip bios or I miss something?
If I upload old rom with serial - recognised fine
