Hi,
i've this Palmer WD10SDZW-11UMGS0 drive that was inside My Passport enclosure (P/N: WDBYNN0010BBK-0B).
Surprisingly i didn't find it encrypted and i was also lucky enough to find an already unlocked 800066 donor sata pcb.

After ordering node ID of T2, disabling mod 190 and uploading T2 in ram, i can access data until LBA 437.000.000, after that all sectors are read as zeros except for the very last ones which were hidden in HPA section.
HPA starts from LBA 1953459632.

Customer says that the hard drive was FULL of data :?
In your opinion, are all those sectors seen as "00" due to trim function?
Those data are really gone or could be an issue with 2nd level translators?

Palmer utility shows that some T2 nodes are reported with errors (yellow instead green ticked)

What does yellow ticks mean ?
If i could fix those yellow nodes in green, would i be able to access to those sectors? ...i really hope that are not trimmed sectors :(

I upload mod 190, maybe someone can understand if T2 can be fixed.

PBA mode is not working in MRT DE.
Unfortunately in MRT DE the PBA mode is buggy, it doesn't read any sector and square get coloured as black colour right away (as refusing to read)

I talked with MRT team, thay asked me to send them mod 190 backup so that they can rebuild new T2 for me.
I hope they will do magic !

We have MRT and PC3000 for many years and MRT seems to me a very decent tool and in some concrete cases even with better solutions than acelab, for example in solving the slow problem in WD. In general terms pc3000 is much superior to MRT but I recognize that it is a very decent tool and in my opinion essential in any laboratory. However I can not agree that their support service is precisely something to highlight in MRT, in my opinion, that is their weakest link, compared to the service of acelab.....

MRT Service  ,
It Sucks ,I have never taken it ,I had a seagate drive SMR with Head 07 Physically BAD ,Come what may i cannot activate the drive in PC3000,Reason they say its sooooooooooooo dangerous to do this and they have not added head activating remapping function for newest SMR seagates ,Here comes MRT i change headmap to 00 01 02 03 04 05 06 06 and voila case solved .

Today MRT stuff contacted me, they need remote connection to my PC to help me.
They didn't send me rebuilded T2 from module 190 that i've sent them, i don't know why... maybe is to complicated or not possible.

They helped me to get PBA access to the drive.
They've been told me that the solution to get access in PBA mode is to fix DWF, you can do that by clearing mod 183.

At the moment i'm cloning in PBA mode the portion of drive that before shown me as zero, until now i see just garbage. :?
I hope to find at least some useful data. Speed reading in PBA mode is between 5 Kb/s - 500 Kb/s :(

Other than reading data for datas sake, it might be my misunderstanding of the situation but I don't see how this will aid recovery.

Now that i'm reading in PBA mode, sectors are not read as 00 but with some kind of data.
It seem to be only garbage, later on i will do a raw scan, maybe i will find some useful data.

Based on https://blog.acelab.eu.com/wd-smr-drive ... maged.html

It would suggest that filling in the blanks with a PBA read would not help but a full sequential read might produce raw results depending on the original write order. I suppose it would depend on the state of T2. Would be interesting to compare the raw results from a PBA patched vs PBA full.
