Hi HGU,

I have uploaded a loader file on zirochka, but there are some
other loaders which might suit you. You can try them in SM.

Look at the loader in hex editor and look at offset 201FEh
You will see 9E63 which confirms that the loader is suitable
for ROM checksum 639E.

Once you get access to SA look at offset 1FFFEh of module 04B80100
(ROM copy of your drive).

or look at report some programs will print out checksum for u.

Now if you want to be accurate you need to find a loader for your
drive type with matching ROM checksum so that you can start
repairing f/w.

Also try to get a proggie mxhelp. This can be used to get info
from loaders and modules and give you some useful information.

From my experience I have a few favourite loaders I use for N40P
and in 80% of cases at least 1 of 3 approach nearly all N40P until
I can get ROM checksum of the drive I need to repair then I use a
ROM checksum matching loader which does the trick.

Hope this helps, but please note this is 4 N40P in SM.

HGU,

If you look at zirochka you note under Maxtor that there is a folder for loaders which does not include
RAM and modules for Poker.

So you can conclude that the ram and the modules are not needed to
repair your Maxtor - well in most cases.

So now you can conclude how to start repair of Maxtor.

Also you can read some links which suggest to write zeroed G-List and P-List - this is the old way, if it ever was.

So now you have the hex editor working and you got a better understanding of function of important modules
which will all help you to get the data.

And here is just the beginning and this is why some people suggest
it may be easier to go straight to the expert and save a lot of trouble.

You are playing a VERY dangerous game with your data :) if your data is valuable, do not experiment with your drive, or at least try to understand what are you doing.
