Hi,

I have a 5TB WD EasyStore which is now clicking after unplugging it forcefully while it was being used. The data in the drive is not that important but I'm thinking of using this as an opportunity to attempt to fix this drive.

Initially I thought the head was stuck on the platter but this was not true. I opened up the HDD and head was in its parking spot and the clicking was happening with the head attempting to move out of its parking spot but stopping short of the platter and then repeating that motion.

Any ideas - do I need to replace the head (ie. is there head gone bad) or is the firmware corrupt?
