IBM Firmware Required for HUC101812CSS20

March 25th, 2023, 16:19

Hi Gurus,

I Have Several 1.2TB 10k SAS Disks (HUC101812CSS20).

I need IBM firmware to make them work in IBM V3700 and V7000 Storage systems.

If anyone can share the firmware it would be great.

there isn't a firmware for those drives to make them work with ibm server. normally it's a plug n play. Worse case scenario go update the bios of your server.

Your statement couldn't be further away from the truth. :-)

The firmware i am looking for is a storage firmware not a server firmware. Servers normally don't require specific firmware. Storage on the other hand is a different game altogether. Every OEM vendor locks disks at the firmware level so that only their specific firmware disk works in their storage.

The Same Manufacturer (HGST/Seagate) Disk works in different OEM (Dell/HP/IBM) Storage with the specific firmware from that OEM.

You can actually install the OEM firmware on standard disks to make them work in OEM Storage systems. I have had this done previously for different storage systems.

Are you still interested? Do you really need IBM or Lenovo?

I would be interested in converting Seagate Exos X18 drive (3CD233, ST10000NM015G) to a drive compatible with IBM Flashsystem 5035 (IBM P/N 03JK890). Is there any way to accomplish that?
