ExFat Folder-Structure Problems on MacOS

May 16th, 2023, 10:40

Hello!

Some of our customers, who are using MacOS have sometimes trouble to acces some of the data, that we have recovered on USB-HDs with ExFat Filesystem.

Only some of the folders are unaccessable, empty or not visible. When we have a look via TeamViewer on the customers Macs and check that Drives with DR-Software (like R-Studio) the data is visable and functional. Only the Finder seems have some trouble to access the relevant folders.

Anybody an idea whats going wrong? And how we can solve that without ordering the recovered data back or installing some additional software on the customers Mac/Pc?

Thanks

Any specifics like weird characters in folder / file names, deep folder structures, specific drive / volume sizes, cluster sizes? You'd need to find something these have in common.

I am almost sure i red something on this (Mc <> exFAT), some issue I think related to number of directory entries, LFN's or similar, but can not find it again
