HDT721010SLA360 - where a problem might be
I think that topic is a long so I started this new.
To sum up.
I have not working HDT721010SLA360 .
If I connect the HDT721010SLA360 to computer there is no noise, motor is quiet.

I checked voltages, which were correct. I was also able to read EEPROMs. There were 2pcs EEPROM

User michael chiklis compared the EEPROM with an EEPROM from another harddrive HDT721010SLA360 and offered replacing 2 bytes.
User fzabkar suggested using HDAT2.

Finally I decided to buy another harddrive - working HDT721010SLA360
I used PCB from that working HDT721010SLA360, replaced EEPROMs with my EEPROMs but my HDT721010SLA360 did not work.

As the next step I used my PCB( from not working HDT721010SLA360 ) , replaced EEPROMs from the working HDT721010SLA360 and used with the bought HDT721010SLA360 and it worked.
So my PCB was not faulty - probably only a problem with EEPROMs. I suppose.

Anyone here can suggest a solution how to make alive my HDT721010SLA360?
What repairing path to take?

Thank you for help

Without reading the whole previous topic, did you test the motor?

Your description suggests it's a ROM or motor-related issue. :?:

Thank you for your reply.
By ROM, do you mean EEPROM?

And what is the best/easiest way for hard drive motor testing?

This HDT721010SLA360 Model has common PCB failure or you can say a manufacturing fault on PCB which is usually off the drive power.

I suggest you to find any professional help, playing with HITACHI drive ROM withouth experience is a suicide.

@Disk Solution: which PCB do you mean? As I wrote, PCB was replaced, see above

Did you check whether PUIS was enabled?

Yes, I used HDAT2 ( also with /w param) but the hard drive was not detected either

It would surely take a lot fewer time to recover this thing in the lab than reading and replying such long threads and have my mind occupied by the possibilities. yup, it wouldn't be free, that's a drawback... but still... chose somebody near you and have the issue resolved.

John: You are destructing yourself you can't do this at home try to understand that.

pepe; You are right this is easiest work for us in the Lab but people want to save money even from the most difficult work on the planet "Data Recovery" we doing for them. They all should know that without backup of original ROM they can destroy original ROM and Data.

As for fzabkar who is providing online solution to work on original data hard drive and ROM to new user may be a disaster I have started a new topic for fzabkar to know few things https://forum.hddguru.com/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=43860

If you had been paying attention in that other thread, you should have noticed that the problem is not as simple as you make out.

In this current thread, one would conclude that there is a problem with the ROM/NVRAM. However, in the original thread the ROM was deemed to be OK (by matching it against a resource dump), and the NVRAM appeared to be OK (its XOR16 checksum was 0x0000). The OP has also confirmed that it is not a PUIS issue.

In that other thread, the OP determined that the noises that he was hearing were due to the spindle motor and voice coil. He did this by isolating the respective PCB contacts and observing that the noises went away when he did so. This would suggest that the MCU and firmware are OK, and that the MCU is communicating with the motor controller. To me, it sounds like the drive is unable to overcome the latch force (some Samsung drives develop this problem). However, the OP has swapped PCBs and failed to resolve the problem.

After investigation of your case the problem would be connection between motor and PCB and you said it was in usb case but the drive was not design to be in usb case. Find any electrical engineer to change that cable from donor and pray. Or platter swap charges $3000, ROM Regeneration $4000.

Thank you all for your replies, especially fzabkar user for the case explanation to others.
I opened the drive and found out the head was not park properly.

So I put the head to proper parking and motor started spinning.
UNfortunately, after a second or two the drive started clicking, so I opened the drive again and found the head was on a platter this time.

I examined the head and found out that it had a minor damage.

So I hope exchanging heads would solve the problem.

Questions: Do you know about a good tutorial how to change head of hard drive disk?
When changing the head, must I also used PCB from that donor hard disk, including the EEPROMs?

You're literally continue ruining any chance to recover your data from this drive.
I would recommend stoping what you're doing and seek for nearest DR company.

I wonder how drive spin up now magically even head stuck produce some motor beep. Anyway head stuck always leaves the platters scratch and your try definitely leaves more scratches, from me this case is over your data has been lost.

Well,
i keep seeing you say "usually off the drive power " , what do you mean. did you not read he tested his native hdd pcb with non native eproms and it worked on non native hdd .

Sir
You investigated this case sitting in your lab ,Every drive thats pata and sata can be used in casing .For heavens sake find a electronic engineer not a electrical engineer we are not repairing a power grid
