Can anybody tell me how to access a WD drive WD400BB-23JHC0.

This drive has a BLACK cover and the Logic card contains the MARVELL chip NOT the WD processer.

What I need to do is access the SPECIAL area of the drive so as to load some firmware modules associated with the Model and Serial number of the drive.

I can perform this operation on the Older WD 'Silver' top drive but these have the WD processor.

To access the Marvell WD drives you need to use the NEW generation SA command methods.

This loaction is not verify helpful.

It does not tell me anything about the commands required to access the SA area of the disc.

It tells me ALL about the drive, but not the commands to access the drive.

Datalifeguard etc uses normal ATA commands no vendor unique commands.

I want to change the modules to modify
1. Model ID field
2. Serial Number field
3. Head Map to deselect failing heads

All I require is the command to access the drives firmware. Which I do not have for the Marvell type WD drives.

Any information would be useful.
