radial scratch. in this case is recommended not disconnecting zone wholly, but the decreasing of a quantity of sectors in it. For this example, after indicating value of SPT = of 220.

What exactly happens at reduced SPT? The drive reduces linear density, to fit less sectors on track, or just skips unused sectors, or they become spare sectors ?

Sorry for my poor english :(

Because the circle form of the disk, in one extreme of the disk u have less sector per track than in the other extreme of the disk

hope this helps

cheers!

I have a specific Q :)

It is evident that ID tracks are shorter and OD tracks are longer. Angular velocity of the spindle is constant, but the linear is different on each track. To put more sectors at OD, and less at ID, microcontroller must change the serial data rate of write channel.

The question is:
Only 16 fixed rates exist for 16 zones, or if i change SPT of 1 zone, will the mc recalculate the required "baud rate" for this track ?
