Hey guys im new here so go easy lol any way. Well i recieved this Hard Drive today (Western Digital Caviar 160GB) and guess what, it dosnt work. Ok so here it goes anyone here a hard drive genius and can help me with this, so i plugged into my second SATA slot obviously my Main Drive in number 1 and windows recongnises it as WDC ROM MODEL - HAWK but it dosnt show in My Computer. It shows in the BIOS the same there is no jumper on the hard drive and according to western digital this is how the default should be. Also it dosnt show its full capacity of storage which is 160gb instead it shows 8.00gb. i tried using Western Digital's own diagnostict's tools and it came up with this on every single test 11-Cable Test::Read diagnostics sector error! i dont have a clue what this means, is one of the sectors faulty or what please all Hard Drive Genius's Help. Also i have Tried Using SpinRite and it wont let me touch the hard drive all help is much Appreciated thanks Ross1308

The drive has a serious problem, if it's not making any odd noises, then probably a firmware problem.

Noting that can be fixed with free s/w unfortunately.

I'm guessing as it's new (to you) there's no data required?

So better off sending it back from whence it came, or binning it to be honest.
