I think the next question is... Where are you located?

I am sorry for my bad english! :( I am italian and now it's 23:12...

Ok! I am going to build a small cleanroom!

I am thinking to something like a plexiglass box, provided with lateral holes.

In the meantime I will start to open and crash some old drives :D

Good night to me ... and good afternoon to you!

Hi guys,

I am searching desperately a new hard drives for data recovery.
somewhere I read I need a same model drive.
It is simple to buy a WD2500JB Caviar SE, but it's difficult (if not impossible) to search my model WD2500JB-REA0.

It is so necessary to get the same model or it is more than enough searching for WD2500JB Caviar SE?

If anybody had it, I'd buy it.

Please help me!

FT

Oh God! So i am in the pickle!

However if I swop platters and ROM in a new drive (similar model), I'd need a PCB with a matching DCM also!

Thank you for your reply!

I'm gonna have to agree with these guys.

Fair enough if you want to get into DR, good luck to you, and we're glad to help.

But do yourself a favour, and start with an easier patient, and one that doesn't have any valuable data on.

These WD drives with physical problems, are tough nuts to crack, even to a pro.

It takes a long time, and a lot of buggered drives, to learn DR effectively.

Sorry, but that's the way it is.

I also agree. I spent more than 2 years practising on old drives before I tried a live one from a client - and even that was not important data belonging to a friend.

I learn something new practically every day - but then I research the subject every single day.

To the original poster - if by some remote chance you become a data recovery pro, you will realise just how naive you are being even believing for a nanosecond that you stand a snowball's chance of succeeding.

"If the platters are mis-aligned then your data is, for all practical purposes, GONE."?
I don't think so ,I had tried it on a TOSHIBA MK60**GAS ,open the cover take out two platter, and replace the motor, then recover my data sucessfully.

You are correct. Toshiba is rather forgiving about platter misalignment.

i know of no other drive that will let you do what you did with your Toshiba.

Anyone?
