Hi Gurus,

I have a WD1200VE-00KWT0 that clicks, but goes to ready after a few seconds, so I think some of the heads are ok. It won't image(slow and every sector is red). Any ideas on how to image separate heads with DE? I tried creating a head map, but I get an error. Safe mode and then disable the heads?

Offhand, I don't think disabling the heads in safe mode will work.

You can try doing a head map of the same model, and then copy the head map file into the folder of the drive that you are working on in DE. Then you can disable the head.

Sounds like adaptive deviation.

Thanks Jon. I wonder if the ol' adjusting the headstack trick might work...

That would be my next suggestion.
