I'm a green newbie so please be gentle with me. Here is my situation; In the process of trying to ghost my work laptop harddrive I missed the pins by one place. Ended up with a dead hd. This is an IBM Travelstar 32 GB IC25T048ATDA05-0. There is nothing on this drive that would warrant an expensive data recovery service, but I hate to loose certain things on it that I have been doing for 2 years. I found a PCB on ebay and bought it. I changed out the pcb and now the drive spins up, clicks 20 times then runs but neither BIOS or MHDD will recognize it as a drive. The shield picture of the drive PCB I bought was an exact match for mine, The part no. sticker on the pcb I fried is 07N7628 and the one I received is 07N5439. I would appreciate your opinions as to my situation. Am I dead in the water or is there possibly some firmware update I might be able to do?

The PCB you have purchased is not correct or the disk has fried pre amp. try to match Model, Part No, MLC. You could always send it to a pro, the fee is reasonable if only pcb has failed.

You need to match the 1st two lines of the 4-line code on the little white sticker on the PCB.

These drives have no NVRAM on the PCB

btw... This should be a 48Gb drive

Not necessarily! I've got 2 of these which are actually 32GB Drives! Seems there was some naming convention anomaly when these were manufactured.

Also, because it's from a Dell machine, you can try searching for the Dell Part Number, it's likely to give you the closest match possible. Look for D/PN or simliar on the label, the part number usually starts with a zero. Knock off the zero and search for the next 5 digits. Doing this usually gets you a drive with the required matching PCB with the first 2 lines matching.

Thanks for the great replies. Yes, it is a 32 GB drive even though IBM doesn't seem to remember making it in their documentation. I have managed to find a match and now just have to wait for the auction to end. Thanks again.
