Hi!
I have a Fujitsu 30Gb hard disk model MHT2030AT.

Problem description
My son spilt water on the computer which was immediately switched off for 24 hours. Then when it was switched on again it worked for a while but then got a blue screen and then when restarted it didn't find any disk. Not even in bios. Backup, what’s that? :(

Questions
I've tried to wade thru' the info on this site but I just get more confused. What I really want to know.
1 Can I get in touch with the drive with just software tool such as MHDD? Without damaging data.
2 Can I change the electronics (PCB) easily if the fault lies there? Or is it soldered on? Or is there firmware which cannot be updated on the "new" PCB.
3 Is it easy to find the PCB and purchase it? I'm in Sweden.
4 If it is not the electronics what can it be?

Regards,
Dec

Answers
1) NO
2) Maybe *
3) Yes
4) Firmware on disk or MHA damaged.

* need exact matching PCB with exact firmware (ROM) and some other exact parameters.

Solution
If data is important, beside first diagnose (visual inspection for corrosion, spilled liquid, test on another machine, etc.) you have to ask a pro for proper diagnose and eventually repair. You need specialized HW tools to access the firmware, and also know Fujitsu drives. Your data, you know how much is worth - your choice.

Regards.

BTW are you sure it's the HDD ? I bet for liquid fallen on the mainboard and here is the damage. Unless you flooded the entire PC, probably the HDD was not involved in the... flooding. Check carefully the separate HDD .
