Hey,

I am new to this forum so my apologies if my post goes to the wrong place or something.

I have a peak xtreme 4gb usb flash drive. I can not format it. Windows gives "Write protect" error. Says that disk is write protected. I do not see a switch on the drive. I checked and the write protection is not enabled in the registry.

Also I tried to low level format it with the latest "Hard Disk Low Level Format Tool"

It gives this error message:

4.06.2009 13:43:11 * * * * * WARNING!!! * * * * *
4.06.2009 13:43:11 DURING THE LOW LEVEL FORMAT PROCESS

4.06.2009 13:53:57 Low-level format is done. You will have to create partitions and format this drive.

It changes nothing, the data is still on the drive and I can not format the drive. Checkdisk doesn't work either.

Also, the disk should have around 700MB as "Security" partition. It was created using "USB Flash Disk Utility" that came with the stick. I tried to partition it with the tool, but it gave me the write protected error again.

Note that I do not care about the data, I just need the flash memory to be usable.

Thank you for your time!
