Hi all,

Please take the time to read on before answering as I already tried lots of things.

It all started while filming on a SanDisk Ultra 32GB SD card. Out of nowhere, the camera showed the following message : "Memory card error, card locked". After that, the card was not even seen by the camera.

I tried it in different cameras, computers, card readers and operating systems (WinXP, Win7, MacOS and Linux) and on all those, the card was not even detected. I am not saying it shows up as unformatted or sthg, I'm saying it doesn't show at all, like nothing was inserted in the card reader.

Even though it didn't show, I tried to use data recovery software on Windows 7, without much hope, and as expected, got no results. I tried the following :

FULL VERSIONS :
- OnTrack Easy Recovery
- Runtime GetDataBack

DEMO/FREEWARE VERSIONS :
- DiskInternals Flash Recovery
- F-Recovery for SD
- DDR - NTFS Recovery
- Easy Recovery Professional
- PC Inspector File Recovery
- R-Studio
- Zero Assumption Recovery

I also attempted to boot directly into SpinRite with no success.

NONE of these programs could see the card, so I couldn't even start the recovery procedure!

There are EXTREMELY important pictures in this camera that were supposed to be exposed in a gallery. It was taken during a trip and were not copied to a computer yet. The only copies are on this card so any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks a lot,

Simo

Hi, Does the card reader even attempt to read the card? From your description it looks to me like the card is dead! If that is the case then you will never be able to see the device in any program.
If you havn't tried before I think you should boot your computer with card reader connected, in to a dos level program like MHDD or Victoria. Is it possible to detect the device at this level?

You could also post a picture of your card (both sides) and maybe a pro will be able to say what the chances are of getting to the data. Got to say your chances are slim.

Try PCImge here is on the forum and not far from you he is in UK. Contact him by PM and he can give you a good price and recovery for your problems. If you continue you risk the chance to lose all this.

Thank you all for your answers, and sorry for the late answer. For whatever reason the notification has been marked as spam...

I will check with the owner of the card for what to do next.

Thanks,

Simo
